Monday - I think it was Severne Gator 4.7m from the start for me. Possibly
on Evo 70 first, then switching to Evil Twin 70. Some good sized swell
rolling in and steepening up at the reef. Was healthy over head size at
the drop zone, probably chest to head by the first top turn on the bigger
ones. Wave staying open for multi turns down the long side of the reef.
I've never whacked so many lips in a day, just relentless. Quite shallow
but not so powerful as to destroy you if you ended up on the inside. Plus
good spacing on the larger sets. Even if you got the mast tip in the reef
pockets you could still live to tell the tale. Possibly 20-30 people out
there. Crowd manners relatively good, with waves being collected as swell
way out. Only conflict when sailors drifted off the first of the set back
onto the second or third of the set, but room for two anyway. Never had to
shout at anyone and generally people seemed to steer clear of my wave.
Fetta and the young kids from Bouj centre sailing and had an amazing big
off the lip just as Fetta back looped huge off the same peak. Looked up
through my spray to see him 15 feet overhead mid loop. Incredible.
